    Overcoming Parents Suicide: My Story

Recently I was a guest author for Kate over at mysweethomelife.com. I was able to share my story and have it featured on her website. She did a beautiful job. Thank you Kate for helping me get this out there in the best way possible. It was my honor to share with you. As children, we expect that one day we will lose our parents. To cancer maybe. A heart attack. A stroke. But we never expect that we’ll have to deal with a parent’s suicide. This post is part of My Sweet Home Life’s Overcomer series – where we look at women whose lives haven’t turned out quite how…

    Time To Get Moving

Getting Weight Under Control Weight control is a must for most of us. Being weight concious is something that always weighs heavy on my mind. I had gastric bypass surgery 4 1/2 years ago. I had lost 102 lbs total. This fourth year has been my year of weight gain which is completely normal but can be bad if you’re not careful. I’ve probably put on 30 lbs in the last year. Mainly because I’ve added the types of food back in that is not allowed for gastric patients, as well as failure to excercise regularly. Of course, I know better! I just love food and hate excercise! So I’ve decided…

    World Wide Web

Trapped In The Web Like flies trapped in the web waiting for its master creator the spider to find its lunch; the World Wide Web has gathered us humans from all over the world. We are forever trapped in its magical powers of information; whether good or bad. On one hand it is a great wonder to have this connection to the outside world at our finger tips. On the other, so much sadness and harm can come from misuse of our liberties on the web. The Royal Wedding This morning though, I woke up at 5:30 am and ran to my laptop to see what I could gather of…

    My Mother’s Day Wish

As I started thinking about my children with Mother’s Day upon us and I wanted to share a few wishes for them. I wish for success in all that they do – No matter what they decide to do in life, I want them to be successful at it. Whether it is the great task of parenthood or a chosen work field. May they always be successful. I wish for peace – For my children to grow with…

    I’m Not An “Only Child”

This will most likely be the only place where I talk about having a sibling. I purposely avoid this topic and avoid adding the slightest mention of him in any of my posts. He is not the role model that the idea of being the “oldest sibling” should offer. I love my brother very much, from a distance. Mainly because that is all I can handle. After dealing with so much in life, one needs to pick the drama that is dealt with and I chose my kids and dealing with things at home versus dealing with the constant drama having a relationship with my brother provided. It can be…

    I Believe

The song “I Believe” is originally sang by the Country duo Brooks and Dunn. Sang here by Patrick Henry Hughes. Patrick was born without eyes and unable to walk. He talks about using P.A.T. (his first name) as an acronym. P for Passion/Patience/Perseverance. A for Ability and Attitude. T is for Trust. He goes on to say “In order to achieve a goal you need to have a passion for that goal. Be patient, it may take a while for your goal to work. Persevere, keep trying, don’t give up. Ability and attitude, use the ability that you know you have plus keep a positive attitude. Trust in yourself, you…
